Types of damage we typically see that falls under minor collision, would be, a front fender that’s smashed, or a door that’s caved in, maybe a large dent in a quarter panel. At first glance, this damage may look like there’s no way that it can be repaired using paintless dent repair. But before heading to the body shop, check with Columbia Dent Company, to see if it’s a candidate for pdr.
Of course there are limitations on the reparability of damage that falls in this category. Sometimes this type of damage can be repaired to a high level, sometimes it can fall under an improvement repair, or anywhere in between. Factors that can impact the final results can include, extremely pinched, or kinked, metal; cracked, or otherwise damaged paint, or just plain excessive damage.
All is not lost though, if you have bad damage. If you are looking to save some money, or not make an insurance claim, we might be able to help. Occasionally we can take that extreme damage and do an “improvement repair”. This would be a repair that won’t necessarily be a “perfect” repair, as it could have some flaws, or waves, and in the case of broken or scratches in the paint, maybe some touch up paint will be applied.
So why consider paintless dent repair, for your minor collision damage? Several reasons. 1. We just might be able to fix it. With advances in tools and techniques, we are able to repair damage today, that was unheard of in the past.
2. An imperfect paintless repair, is still better than possibly having a panel cut off, or replacing parts with aftermarket panels, and repainting the car.
3. Save a panel from replacement, or a lot of unnecessary filler. Maybe you went to the body shop, and they want to cut off that quarter panel, and replace it with a new, or in some instances a used piece. Maybe we can get it straight enough, where they can easily finish it out and repaint it, and save your car from being cut up. At the end of the day, it’s a much less invasive repair.
So, before you head to the collision center, or body shop, check with Columbia Dent Company to see if your dent, or minor collision damage, is a candidate for paintless dent repair.
